Imagine National Lampoon's Animal House (1978) as the head of an ouroboros. Its body begins with school sex comedy knock-offs like Porky's (1981) and Revenge of the Nerds (1984), then the endless shit like Loose Screws (1985) and National Lampoon's Dorm Daze (2003). At the little tip of the tail, the tip that the head devours is National Lampoon's Senior Trip (1995), where high schoolers replace frat boys, and a yellow school bus replace the frat house. This theatrically-released movie (notable for a latter-day NL film) updates the after-school special story line of high school seniors visiting Our Nation's Capitol. Film was shot in Canada and the cast are squeaky-clean 90s grungesters. And what the cast: Matt Frewer (Max Headroom), Tommy Chong (winkingly as himself), and Kevin McDonald (Kids in the Hall) might had held my interest back during a decades-old basic cable viewing, but now I can see a young Jeremy Renner and Twilight Princess voice talent Tara Strong. The director's next movie was Kids in the Hall: Brian Candy (1996), God bless him.
