07/03/16 Episode 5: Comin' at Ya! (1981)
Comin' at Ya! (1981) was the first 3D movie from the '80s, and its surprise success begat several copycats. Without this picture there would have never been Friday the 13th Part 3: 3D (1982), Amityville 3-D (1983), or Jaws 3-D (1983), let alone Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone (1983). Effects includes flying bats, falling coins, paring apples, and most disturbingly, a naked baby.
This revenge story was shot in Spain by Django, Prepare a Coffin director Ferdinando Baldi. It premiered in America in July 1981, probably the only spaghetti Western theatrically released that month.
Mike Spiegelman and his old Bad Movie Night riffmate Ira Emsig watch it in 2D on YouTube.
Says Ira, "Every twelve minutes, they have to throw something at the camera."
