In 2007, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Van Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyley would executive produce the coming-of-age movie Endless Bummer, written by John "J.D." Drury, the lead singer of the Ventura band Raging Arb and the Redheads. Based on his true events, the shaggy dog story has a young J.D. (named J.D.) and his fellow 1980s Southern Californian buds leaving Ventura for the Valley in search of a stolen surfboard. At the end, the real J.D. (aka "Older J.D.") narrates, telling us what happened to them as adults ("I still remain great friends with her and her family.") It has its Ventura premiere in 2009 and released that year on DVD as National Lampoon Presents: Endless Bummer ("in association with the Van Warped Tour").
Cool story, bro, but it doesn't end here. This is actually two National Lampoon movies in one. Extra scenes were added and the film was released as National Lampoon's Surf Party. Affion Crockett and the Greg Wilson are Coco and the Animal, respectively. They never interact with the main characters, but instead smoke bongs, drink kegs and party with topless women as they talk about the main characters. These scenes, written by Crockett and Wilson, are referred in the credits as the "National Lampoon Deck Scenes."
