A CD-ROM game from the
Office Depot clearance aisle
Lots of bland movies have more interesting backstories, but that doesn't mean the movie itself isn't a vile piece of shit. Take Foodfight! (2014), please. Carl tells its infamous journey on the podcast, how it went from an animated movie starring actual corporate mascots to the Office Depot Clearance CD-ROM quality graphics of the finished film.

But the backstory isn't the story of the movie. Inside a grocery store owned by an old man voiced by Ed Asner is a fantasy land that emerges after closing. Mr. Clean, Charley the Tuna, et al., mingle with anthropomorphic animals that look like dog and cat furries. They are occupied by the fascist leather armies of Brand X, complete with insignias. This alarms the funny neurotic scientist, a big nose with giant glasses, little hands and feet. Battles consist of fetishized goo (like ketchup or snot) sploshing over everything.

Not recommended.

Movie poster detail: "Featuring Charlie The Tune, Vlasic the Stork, Twinkie The Kid, Mr. Clean, Mrs. Butterworth, Hawaiian Punchy, The California Raisins, Chef Boyardee and Chiquita Banana."
