Listen to Let's Watch A Full-Length Movie on YouTube and watch Krull at the same time. Start with the podcast. Podcast provided through Mutiny Radio's feed was hella corrupted this week. A clean copy is embedded below.
I never saw Krull when it came out during the Summer of 1983 (that honor went to Strange Brew) but I had played the video game. There was an arcade version and home console version for the Atari 2600. Apparently, the Atari 2600 game was developed for the Atari 5200 but was released for the Atari 2600 because, well, the entire video game industry was about to crash.
Cool metaphor for Krull, too. Columbia Pictures sank 27 million 1983 dollars into this spaghetti-toss of science fiction and swords and sorcery, and it tanked hard. It's about a prince not named Krull who must save from a castle a princess not named Peach. You'll see from the poster that there's a 5-bladed weapon, too. Co-host Carl notices that when the blades pop out, they never cut into the prince's hand. It was such a good point we skipped a half-hour of the movie.
